What is the difference between Broad Spectrum, Full Spectrum, and CBD Isolate?

If you’re new to CBD you’ve probably come across products that are labeled as broad spectrum, full spectrum, and CBD isolate. It’s extremely important to understand the benefits and differences of all three and what that means for you when you’re shopping for the products that work for and your lifestyle.

What is CBD?

The Cannabis plant has different compounds that make up the plant two of which are CBD (cannabinoids) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

With the recent discovery of the endocannabinoid system, researchers discovered that cannabinoids like CBD could provide health benefits. While THC provides a euphoric effect or “high” CBD does not. CBD actually counteracts the psychoactive effects of THC. This is exactly why the hemp plants and marijuana plants are not grown near each other in order to not contaminate the proper growth and THC of the marijuana plant.

How is CBD extracted from the Cannabis plant?

CBD products are created by extracting the CBD from the cannabis plant using various methods such as CO2 extraction. During this extraction, other compounds are also extracted including flavonoids, terpenes, and other cannabinoids. What is CBD Isolate?

An isolate is referred to as the purest compound that is produced by extracting that specific compound and isolating it from the others. As a result, CBD isolate is the purest form of CBD which is produced by removing all other compounds that are found in the plant. This is more often extracted from Hemp due to its THC-free content.

What is Full Spectrum CBD?

Full Spectrum CBD is an extract that is made up of compounds that are found naturally occurring in the plant that include terpenes, essential oils, and cannabinoids. In a study conducted by the Lautenberg Center for General Tumpre Immunology in Jerusalem found that CBD Full Spectrum CBD to provide higher levels of relief. However, CBD Full Spectrum included compounds such as THC which was not desirable among people looking to use CBD.

What is Broad Spectrum CBD?

Broad Spectrum is a combination of Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate. Similarly to Full Spectrum, the compounds that make up the plant are preserved in the broad spectrum extract however the THC does not exist. As a result, at Doc Patels we have a patented process that provides the optimal effects of CBD in its Broad Spectrum form without THC.
