What is CBD (Cannabidiol)?

Dec 1st 2019

We seem to not be able to go to the grocery without seeing something that is CBD infused. CBD is everywhere and it's important that we completely understand what it is, where it comes from, and what’s all the craze.

CBD stands for cannabidiol, which is a compound that is found naturally in hemp plants. CBD is one of the two most common compounds found in the Cannabis or Hemp plant. The second most common compound is THC or tetrahydrocannabinol which is the compound that creates a euphoric or high feeling. While the two are the most common compounds they are completely different. This is crucial to understand if you're interested in purchasing any CBD infused products.

When we have pain in certain parts of our body we have different receptors that signal to our body that we need to combat these pains. However, we need something to trigger these receptors to tell our bodies to fix these issues. CBD stimulates our endocannabinoid system to promote homeostasis in the body which reduces the sensation of pain and preventing inflammation.

Currently, the FDA has not approved CBD for medical use except for one epilepsy medication. As a result, the results are not federally proven and the best way to see if CBD work for you and your ailments is to try it for yourself and read other testimonials and of people that are experiencing or searching for similar solutions such as pains, anxiety, aches, or just maintaining health.

If you're shopping around looking to purchase CBD be aware that it comes in different forms. For example, you can purchase CBD Broad Spectrum, CBD Full Spectrum, and CBD Isolate. For more information on the difference between the three, you can read our CBD News for an in-depth analysis.
